Hyderabad: Telangana Information Technology Association's digital literacy promotion entity Digithon has been chosen to take part in the Central Statistical Office socio-economic census survey. Digithon will be involved in the data collection for the census in Telangana region.

Digithon CEO Sundeep Kumar Makthala exhorted youth and students to take part in the initiative by sending their applications. TITA Digithon has tied up with the Common Service Centre (CSC) and has been working in this direction for many years. The Central Statistical Office has appointed Common Service Centre as the nationwide partner for the socio-economic census survey. While the past census data collection was made through pen and paper, the current seventh economic census survey will be carried out by collecting data through Mobile App by enumerators. Since digital data collection was involved, TITA Digithon will involve its Digital Volunteers into the activity.

The enumerators will be paid Rs 10 for door-to-door residential survey, Rs 16 for commercial-cum-residential activity and Rs 20 for economic or financial activity. As per estimates, Telangana has about 1.5 crore residential properties. Enumerators will be selected through an examination and only those passing it will be eligible to take part in the data collection. The selected enumerators will receive authorization certifications from the Central Statistical Office.

The enumerators will also get a chance to take part in the future census surveys conducted by the Central Statistical Office. The interested applicants will be required to login to bit.ly/censussurvey. The Digithon CEO said, this year's survey which will be carried through phones, will begin from May 15. The opportunity will allow youth and students in the urban and regional areas to enroll themselves as enumerators.

CSC vice-president Raja Kishore said CSC and Digithon together worked on Digital Village and 100K Digithon in the past and won awards.
