Hyderabad: The sudden heavy rainstorm with gusty winds created havoc in Greater Hyderabad municipal Corporation area on Monday. There were many water stagnations, tree falls and collapse of electric poles. It also resulted in a death of a person.

GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore and Mayor Bonthu Rammohan have instructed emergency teams and Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams to stay alert. Enforcement Director Vishwajit Kampati reviewed the situation through GHMC Emergency Control Room and issued orders to make sure that obstacles were cleared in the areas that contain water stagnations.

There were many complaints received from the public, public representatives and officials through phone, WhatsApp and Twitter. The DRF teams under the Directorate Enforcement Vigilance & Disaster Management of GHMC rushed to the spot and began their rescue operations.

The DRF teams received around 57 complaints and the teams cleared all of them within 24 hours. They cleared 46 trees uprooted complaints, 11 water stagnation complaints across Hyderabad. Water stagnations were cleared using Jet dewatering machines in many areas.

In places where 40-50 years old huge trees were uprooted and fallen on roads and vehicles, were cleared by DRF. Due to uprooted trees in many places traffic also was thrown out of gear. DRF swung into action and cleared all the obstacles to make free flow of traffic.

The GHMC has got information on the tree falls near Habsiguda Street No. 5, Chintal Bus Stand, Kushaiguda Sub-Registrar's Office, Lalapet Ram Theatre, Quthbullapur Jairam Nagar, Miyapur Swarnapudi Colony, Malkajgiri Anand Bagh Road.

The GHMC rescue teams prevented traffic disruption, as a tree fell on a car in Madura Nagar. Apart from these, the GHMC also received information that tree fallings at Neredmet Rambrahma Nagar and Tolichowki Mohammadi lane. Disaster management teams immediately switched off the power supply and removed the tree that fell on a power supplying pillar at ESI.
