Hyderabad: In response to the call for a state-wide protest given by Telangana state BC Welfare Association, demanding enumeration of BCs in the upcoming census, BC leaders staged protest in front of Hyderabad District Collectorate here on Monday.

The state president of BC Welfare Association, Jajula Srinivas Goud, expressed his anger at the central and the state governments for ignoring BCs. BCs were being insulted by the central government by not including the enumeration of BCs in the new census. While the government collects details of various animals, it was ignoring collecting details about BCs, he lamented. He said that their association would organise 'BC Long March" to New Delhi in the third week of March to protest against the injustice being done to BCs.

He demanded that the central government collect BC statistics and warned that 60 crore BCs living in the country would stage united struggle to force the government to collapse. No government can survive by opposing BCs, he warned the BJP government. He also demanded that the state government pass a resolution in assembly in this regard and send it to the Centre and also reveal BC data collected through its survey 'Samagra Kutumba Survey' in 2014.

Later, representatives of the association met the District Collector and submitted a memorandum. Kundaram Ganesh Chari, Bangaru Narsimha, Durgaiah, Kanakala Shyam Nanda, Bairu Shekhar, Bade Sab, Srinivas Goud, Mahesh Yadav, Babu Mudhiraj, M Rajender, Harikrishna, Venkatesh, Uppla Madhu, Vishnu, Lingaswamy and others were present.
