Hyderabad: The Vikalangula Hakkula Jatiya Vedika (Disabled Rights Forum) Telangana State committee proposes to launch struggles to protest alleged efforts of the Central and State governments to weaken the welfare laws.

R Venkatesh, treasurer of the committee, in a statement on Wednesday accused the governments of moving towards privatisation by encouraging contract/outsourcing employment. He said as part of the struggle and to coincide with the International Day for the Disabled, a seminar would be organised at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, Bagh Lingampally.

State committee president G Narsimha addressed the seminar. The committee leaders demanded monthly assistance of Rs 5,000 to each disabled until the Corona severity subsides, extension of MGNREGS to 200 days, sanction of food security cards to poor, holding of video/online classes for poor students and payment of special allowance to severely disabled.

Among the speakers were joint secretary J Raju, committee members Madhubabu, Dasrath, Shankar, leaders Mohammad, Naazia, Balishwar, Lakshmipathy, Mallesh, Narsing Rao, Shaahin, Prabhu Swamy, Srinivas, Satyanarayana, Intiaz, Ramesh, Bhujang Reddy, Savitri. Venkatesh announced that the State committee's third 'Mahasabha' would be organised in Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district on December 28 and 29.
