A mentally ill man tried to commit suicide by jumping off the traffic post at Punjagutta cross roads on Monday morning which resulted in heavy traffic jam.
A mentally ill man tried to commit suicide by jumping off the traffic post at Punjagutta cross roads on Monday morning which resulted in heavy traffic jam. The police said that the man identified as Raju is a resident of RC Puram.
The man escaped from his family members while being taken to Institute of Mental Health in Punjagutta for treatment for his mental health disorders. A mild commotion prevailed at the junction when the man climbed the traffic post and tried to strangulate himself with a cloth.
He tried to jump off the post but the police rushed towards him and pacified him.
Later, the police with the help of a TSRTC driver brought the man down and handed back to his family members. The police cleared the traffic jam which was caused due to the incident.
