Lal Darwaza: Even as thousands of Ganesh pandals have come up with traditional themes, techies in Old City have dedicated this year's festivities to India's prowess in space programme with a unique theme of Chandrayaan-2.

Installed at Lal Darwaza, some of the IT-employees decided to give tribute to Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) by coming up with theme Chandrayaan-2. The brain-child of city based NGO, Future Foundation, which works for the social activities, coming up with this theme is entirely a different experience.

"The organisation is installing Ganesh pandals for the last 23 year. "For the last 10 years we are making idols on different themes with an eco-friendly Ganesh idol. As last year we made a theme on Kerala floods, where a Ganesh idol was placed in front of Kathakali style structure.

This year we have come up with the idea of Chandrayaan-2. This lunar mission of India was made at a very low budget of Rs 960 crore when compared to any other satellites made by other countries across the world. It is a very big achievement of India," said Chandan Sachin, President, Future Foundation Society.

Speaking to The Hans India, Sachin said that, "The entire structure is made of iron which can be recycled. By this we can save water bodies from getting affected and polluted.

The structure of the satellite is 23.5 feet tall and Ganesh idol is 5 feet tall and the Ganesh is placed in the satellite. "The entire structure weighs 650 kilograms and it was made by the contribution with 28 members of organisation by spending an amount of Rs 90,000. This organisation do not collect funds or take a support of any sponsors for installing Ganesh", Sachin added.

According to Sachin, the reason for making the theme of Chandrayaan-2 is to pay tribute and felicitate our country and team of ISRO for making a low budget satellite. The organisation congratulated ISRO's efforts for making Chandrayaan-2 successful.
