KCR has no faith in legislatures, charges Eatala
Says during current year the Assembly budget sessions were held only for 11 days; the monsoon session only for three days, leaving the day of expressing condolences. ‘The Assembly Speaker’s work on the last day of the just concluded session shows there might not be any sessions again during the tenure of the current government’
Hyderabad: Huzurabad MLA and BJP State Election Management Committee chairman Etala Rajender said here on Tuesday that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao seems to have no faith in the legislature bodies
Addressing the media he said during the current year the Assembly budget sessions were held only for 11 days; the monsoon session only for three days, leaving the day of expressing condolences. ‘The Assembly Speaker’s work on the last day of the just concluded session show there might not be any sessions again during the tenure of the current government’.
He said the Assembly sessions were being held for about 65 days a year in united Andhra Pradesh. The assembly and Parliament are the highest platforms in a democracy to discuss issues facing people and find solutions, and make good laws
However, under the KCR regime, the legislature functioning has gone down; the MLA’s functioning was reduced to being in villages, “summoning the police and officials to harass and send those from the Opposition parties questioning the government to jail by foisting false cases.” Eatala appealed to people of the State to think about the functioning of the BRS regime under KCR.
He took exception to not inviting BJP to the Assembly Business Advisory Committee meetings unlike in the united AP where even a party represented by a single MLA was allowed to be part of BAC meetings. He expressed anguish at the Speaker denying an office to BJP in the Assembly. Eatala expressed displeasure at the Speaker not allowing MLAs from the Opposition parties, particularly the BJP, to air their views on various issues in the Assembly. He took exception to according Opposition status to MIM, even after the CM called it a friendly party. He said the ministers were seen on their toes responding to any issue raised by the MIM, sending a message to people that the government would address and take steps to resolve only when issues are raised by MIM, but not BJP members.
‘People of Telangana should think about such conduct of the ruling party and MIM’, he urged. Eatala said the Speaker’s words on the last day of the session indicated it was not only the last during the current term of the government, but also a farewell meeting of people to BRS and KCR. He demanded the government to announce compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of those killed in the recent floods.
