Hyderabad: TRS working president K T Rama Rao on Tuesday appealed to party leaders, activists, friends and followers not to spend money on giving advertisements to mark his birthday on July 24.

In Twitter, the former minister offered "Gift a smile challenge" to them to help those in need on his birthday. He also asked them to help neighbors in need and bring smiles on their faces. They are now likely to help others instead of spending funds to give advertisements in newspapers and TV channels to wish him.

MLC Navin Kumar donated Rs 10 lakh to an NGO to purchase an ambulance. Also, some of the NRIs came forward to do the same. While Shirish Rao offered $250, another NRI K Shashi offered $500 to some cancer institutes. Thus, KTR's appeal to help the poor and the needy was getting a good response.
