Rajendranagar: Following the incessant rains in the last week, residents have complained of rainwater inundation as well as gushing out sewerage on the roads and into houses in several areas under Rajendranagar.

People in several areas are complaining that GHMC sanitary staff had disappeared soon after rains and piling up of garbage and overflowing gutters and drains have become a common scene in the localities.

"Despite repeated calls and reminders, the GHMC sanitary staff failed to pay any heed to the issue causing immense hardship to the residents. We can't move on from the roads without closing our nose because of the unbearable the stink. Heaps of silt along with the effluents gushing out of the manholes and septic tanks is spilling on the roads," complained Mohammed Zaheeruddin a social activist of Mahmoodnagr Indranagar.

According to locals, the officials were trying to take refuge under excuse that the vehicles to remove the silt were not available in adequate numbers. the only answer we received from the sanitary officials was that "We are helpless as the air tech vehicles to clean the drains are not available with them," he added.

Another issue causing inconvenience to the locals is sweeping which is not happening on regular basis. Sweepers appearance are rare in the area at a time it was needed immensely," said Mohammed Chand of the same area.

"We are receiving several complains of lying of sewerage debris in several streets. Soon we would arrange Airtech machines to remove the sewerage silt in few of the localities. We are trying to solve the issue by adhering to the complaints whenever we are receiving it," said Venkatesh, A sanitary supervisor.
