Hyderabad: A delegation of scribes from print and electronic media of Rajendranagar called on Minister of Education Sabitha Indra Reddy at her office on Thursday. The journalists apprised her about the issues faced by them in the absence of proper patronage from the government.

Congratulating her for being elevated as Minister for Education in the State, the leaders offered her a bouquet. Disappointed with the attitude adopted by the government since coming to power, the leaders said, "The scribes have been deprived of every reasonable right they enjoyed in the past.

All the promises made during the elections especially allotment of house sites or double bedroom houses were not fulfilled till date." Journalists were being deprived of proper medical facilities in hospitals. Health cards issued by the government were not being accepted in the corporate hospitals.

Only two wellness centers at Khairtabad and Vanasthalipuram, that too without proper medical apparatus, were treating journalists. Insurance, Journalist colonies, free education to scribes' children etc., were just a word of mouth.

The darker aspect was that the attacks on scribes had increased in these years making them feel completely unsafe. They urged the minister to prevail upon the government to ensure progress and protection of scribes.

During an informal meeting on the sideline of the visit, senior TRS leader Karthik Reddy said, "I hope the tantalizing issues of the journalists will be resolved soon as the pressure is consistently mounting on the government from all sides to ensure the problems reach to a logical end without further ado."

Senior Journalist and Member Assault Committee Bheemiah, President Electronic Media RR District M Bhujang Reddy, Dist Executive Members (TUWJ) M Damodar Reddy, AP Charry, Ex-President (TUWJ) Rajendrangar, M Prem Raj, General Secretary (TUWJ) Rajendranagar. Suryanarayana and others were present.
