Musheerabad: Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Sunday assured the Teachers' Struggle Committee members that the problems raised by them would be taken up and solved by the State government after the code of conduct for elections ends.

He was responding to various representations made by the committee to issue appointment/posting orders to teachers selected by the TRT and to set right the staff pattern in schools. The committee had staged a dharna on Saturday to press its demands like orders on inter-district transfers of couples as also those of model schools and KGBV teachers, promotions of pundits and those holding PET posts.

Referring to the issue of regularization of the services of the teachers, the Minister told the committee leaders that there were more teachers considering the student: teacher ratio. Hence, Reddy said, TRT appointments were getting delayed. The Minister said that once the election code comes to an end, the government would hold discussions with the teachers' organisations on demands like transfers.

Among those present at the meeting with Reddy were MLC A Narsi Reddy, TSUTF president and general secretary Ch Ramulu, Chava Ravi, TPTF State vice-president M Ravinder, DTF State vice-president B Ramakrishna, Model Schools Teachers' Federation State vice-president B Kondayya, G Gopilata , Kranti Kumar and Radhakrishna.
