Moula-Ali: It is a bitter battle to go to the toilet at the Government High School at Prashanth Nagar in New Railway Colony. With just one toilet each for girls and boys, students literally fight amongst themselves when they have to use the toilet.

Opened in 1967, the school has fallen on bad times. I K Srinivas, an alumnus of the school (1993-2001 batch), said, "During my stay there were 1,200 students. With infrastructure falling apart, the number of students has drastically reduced." Now the strength is around 320.

Suresh Kumar, Principal, explained, "There are several issues: lack of drinking water, leaking roof, lack of electricity and washrooms. We do not have staff to clean the toilets. We do not have enough funds."

Govind, a Class 8 student, said, "Due to the poor condition of toilets, we are forced to go to the nearby grounds. For drinking water and cleaning hands, we use the Government Hospital that is opposite our school." Teachers said, "There is no proper roofing in classes. We also suffer from lack of electricity and drinking water, too."
