Local MRO and the police on Tuesday evicted alleged encroachers from the land allotted to the Gouthu Latchhanna Memorial Trust at Che Number Centre Crossroads following complaints lodged by activists of the CPI(M) and CPI parties, who also staged a dharna at the spot.

Addressing the protestors, CPI(M) leader Mahender alleged that the land grabbers were trying to encroach the land using fake documents, even while a case was pending in a court.
He demanded immediate arrest of the encroachers and urged the trust, named after freedom fighter Latchhanna, to commence construction at the spot. Among those who participated in the dharna were CPI State leaders Venkatesh, Nadeem, Rayees, Narayana, Srinivas, Mohini, Basar.
