Chilkur: A musical prayer under the aegis of the Temples Protection Movement was organised here at the banks of Gandipet Lake. Priest of Balaji temple Rangarajan along with musicians and enthusiasts rendered Amruthavarshini, Megharanjani, Malhar etc., ragas for the sake of rains.

Speaking on the occasion, Rangarajan said almost 33 days of the monsoon season was lost in dry spell. Farmers are in distress and water crisis is looming large. That is why we prayed in this traditional way for the rains, he added. "Traditionally at Chilkur, we have prayed with these ragas for rains.

We had performed Nakshatra Veena recital with 27 Veena instruments. We had prayed in 2016 when Osman Sagar Lake got dried up the same way. Always Balaji had been very kind enough to respond with bountiful rains. Today we are repeating the devotional music for rains with ragas to please rain Gods to bless us" he said.

The event was co-organised by Anirudh Sharma Tabla: Shruti Music Academy Gowribatla Lakshman Murthy, Principal, Vasuda Murthy, Director, daughters Nandini and Yamini and students of academy rendered Annamayya keertanas in various ragas.
