The Deputy Director of National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), Manoj Kumar, has said that awareness on mental health helps people detect mental problems at an early phase to cure it.

Old Bowenpally: The Deputy Director of National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), Manoj Kumar, has said that awareness on mental health helps people detect mental problems at an early phase to cure it.

He was speaking at a programme organised to celebrate the World Mental Health Day at NIMH on Thursday. A rally was taken out from NIMH, commemorating the day to increase self-confidence among mentally-disabled people and raise awareness on the importance of mental health.

Celebrations are being held from October 10 to 16 at NIMH. During the celebrations, counseling would be given to mentally depressed people who have lost self-confidence and those with suicidal tendencies.

During the sessions, efforts will be made to identify probable problems of the depressed people and to give solutions to them. Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar said that various initiatives had been taken at NIMH to improve life skills among mentally handicapped people.
