Officials told to distribute saplings to every house

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner M Dana Kishore on Tuesday inspected the saplings in local nurseries for the Haritha Haram programme. The commissioner visited local nurseries in Rajendernagar and other surrounding areas and inspected the saplings, along with the GHMC Additional Commissioners.

Speaking after inspecting the saplings at various nurseries, the Commissioner said there is a need of around 1 crore saplings for the plantation as well as to distribute during the Haritha Haram programme. He said that they called for tenders for the 1.20 lakh saplings from private nurseries in the city. Social audit should be done on the information regarding the saplings, which are taking from local nurseries and free distribution of the saplings, he said.

There are more than 13 lakh houses in the city and should distribute the saplings to each and every house in all the wards of the city and an action plan should be prepared for distributing two-lakh saplings in each ward, the commissioner said.
