Open manhole poses grave threat to life

Kukatpally: The open manhole in the middle of the road at Prashanti Nagar, Kukatpally is posing a serious threat to the lives of the residents as well as commuters.

Locals have come up with a makeshift arrangement over the manhole to prevent any unwanted incident. Despite several incidents in the past where people have fallen inside these open manholes and injured themselves the GHMC has not paid heed to cover it up.

"One has to remain alert while driving during night hours otherwise an accident is guaranteed due to an open manhole. A two-wheeler can stuck up in a largely uncovered manhole if its driver is unable to see it.

Even the wheel of the car can get stuck up in it. Therefore, the civic authorities should ensure that such manholes are covered," said a local resident.
