Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar asserted that the department was committed to strive for people's safety and for this the personnel were ready to do any sacrifice.

Speaking after felicitating seven 'best' auto drivers under the auspices of the Traffic wing at PingalI Venkatrami Reddy Hall, Kumar stated that there was a good public response to the department's programme of 'My Auto is Safe' project.

It has earned more regard and faith in society for auto drivers. Of the 1.7 lakh auto-rickshaws in the limits of three commissionerates, 85,000 had joined the programme. The drivers had been given the best ratings based on which they were selected.

The drivers included Kalim, Nadeem, Bikshamayya, Skankar, Pandu, Lingayya, Narayana. He said the Traffic wing was a key department, as its personnel were ensuring that the city residents do not face any hardships during any season.

Anjani Kumar gave away prizes to the auto drivers. The drivers explained to the gathering the benefits of the 'My Auto is Safe' programme. Dasari Ramesh, the president of Anna Auto Association, Nampally, appealed to the CP to ensure that the department was considerate towards auto drivers and not penalise them for minor mistakes.

Additional CP (traffic) Anil Kumar, Additional DCP Bhaskar, ACPs Vidyasagar, Koteswar Rao, Srinivas Reddy, CI Prabhakar Reddy, were among those present.
