Precautionary steps in full swing: GHMC

Hyderabad: Following widespread prevalence of seasonal diseases, GHMC is on an overdrive to eradicate them. Many programmes were conducted by political leaders, government and private officials and political party activists to check spread of the seasonal diseases.

What is being done

• 25 additional doctors and OP counters are arranged at major hospitals like Fever, Gandhi, Osmania and Nilofer and evening clinics are being conducted in 95 urban health centers.

• 105 basthi daawkaana are being conducted with full fledged medicines, staff and seasonal disease test centers

• Awareness programmes are being conducted by Entomology department in GHMC on water stagnation and untidy surroundings

• Spraying of Larvae eradication medicine at places of mosquito reproduction

• Fogging is being done regularly in 150 colonies with 150 portable and 10 fogging machines

• Awareness programmes are conducted in 1800 schools educating them on problems faced by mosquitoes

• Wastes are removed and spraying is done at both sides of river Musi with 42 larvae eradication groups

• Drones being used to spray insecticides to kill mosquitoes at lakes and rivers

• Messages sent to 10.5 lakh house tax payers bringing awareness on seasonal diseases

• Any complaints through social media or at GHMC call center attended to immediately

• Awareness at schools, colleges, factories, godowns and other places to make every Friday a dry day

• Pamphlets distributed to residents of basthis to make Friday a dry day

• Hoardings put up at 50 main places in city to bring about public awareness

• Nearly 500 free medical camps were conducted at high risk areas
