A rally was taken out on the occasion of World Malaria Day from Begumpet Circle on Thursday to raise awareness on preventive measures to be taken to eliminate mosquito menace.

Secunderabad: A rally was taken out on the occasion of World Malaria Day from Begumpet Circle on Thursday to raise awareness on preventive measures to be taken to eliminate mosquito menace.

Begumpet division Deputy Commissioner Nalini Padmavathi flagged off the rally. Assistant Entomologist B Srinivas Reddy and GHMC staff participated in the rally. The rally passed through Bhoiguda, IDH colony, CC Nagar, Bhansilalpet Kaman and finally ended at the multipurpose function hall.

People were told about the preventive measures to be taken to stop the spread of mosquitoes. Speaking during the rally, Srinivas Reddy urged people to take necessary measures such as preventing water from stagnating in old objects and flower pots placed on terraces and open areas and keeping surroundings clean. Mosquitoes can spread life-threatening diseases such as Malaria, Dengue, Swine Flu and Chikungunya, he warned.
