RTC union seeks basic amenities in rest rooms
The state committee of TSRTC Employees Union (EU) demanded the RTC management to improve the facilities at rest rooms meant for RTC employees across the state.

Responding to the several posts in social media by RTC employees complaining about the lack of proper facilities at various rest rooms across the State, general secretary of EU Raji Reddy inspected CBS rest rooms at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station at Gowliguda on Thursday night from 11 pm to 1 am.
TSRTC EU city president Majid and secretary Raghavulu accompanied him during his visit. Later, speaking to the media here on Friday, Raji Reddy said that the TSRTC employees have been facing severe hardships due to lack of proper facilities at the rest rooms, especially those allocated for district employees.
Toilets in the rest rooms were not properly maintained and are very filthy, he lamented. He said that lack of water in the bathrooms and toilets is a cause of concern among the employees. Even drinking water was not provided at the rest rooms, he added.
Reddy said that wherever there was water, it was being wasted due to leaking taps. In a room which can accommodate only 10 beds, 20 people are accommodated using bunk beds.
Those who sleep on the lower beds are finding it very difficult to sleep as the air from the ceiling fan doesn't reach them. As only a few fans were in working conditions, the employees are quarrelling among themselves to sleep under working fans to get some air. Although the rest rooms for district service employees are called as AC rest rooms, none of the ACs work in the rest rooms, he said.
As the AC rest rooms do not have fans, employees find it difficult to sleep in the rest room in during summer, he said. City TSRTC runs some night-out services and it was the responsibility of the management to provide rest room, water and toilet facilities to the employees who work on night shifts, but they have not been provided with any facility, he lamented.
He demanded the management to take away night duties in city services as it was not required at all. He cautioned the TSRTC management that the lack of facilities to the employees who do night duties may result in health problems and may also result in accidents.
He called upon the TSRTC employees to be aware of injustice being done to them by the management in collusion with leaders of the recognized RTC union who have staked the workers' interests for their selfish gains.
Raji Reddy called upon RTC employees to stage a united struggle against the management and those unions which do not join the struggle should be thrown out.
