Patancheru: The Congress party activists on Tuesday staged a 'rasta roko'and dharna near Tellapur in Ramachandrapuram demanding expeditious completion of the 100-ft Gopanpally-Kollur radial road.

They threatened to launch a State-wide dharna with top party leaders and indefinite hunger strike if the road work was not launched. The police stalled the Congress agitators and sent them away.

Speaking during the protest, the Congress leaders alleged that in the last five years the TRS government had taken up road-laying works with fanfare but failed to complete them so far. They stated that the incomplete roads were causing hardship to people, particularly women, students and employees.

The leaders claimed many people were killed in accidents on the pending roads, with a warning to intensify their agitation if the road works were not completed soon.

Among those who participated in the protest programmes were DCC leader Chilakamarri Prabhakar, party leaders Shyam Rao, Mallesham Goud, Rammohan Reddy, Prabhakar Reddy, Raja Goud, Mohan Reddy, Jaipal, Dharani Raju, Srinivas, Arun Goud, Vishnu, Narsimha, Yadagiri.
