Inspite of the fact that there is a major power crisis resulting in unscheduled power cuts, street lights in Pragati Nagar were seen to be switched on even during the day time. The street lights are also seen in the morning in many other parts of the city.

The reason that was given was due to the fault in the automatic switches by which the street lights operate. Speaking to The Hans India here on Tuesday, Sudha S, a resident of the area said, "The street light has been switched on for the past three days.
We have been talking to the electricians asking for how this could be repaired as there were no responses from the officials concerned." "There should be a periodic check by the officials. We pay our taxes and our money is getting wasted here.
During this summer, the electricity bill has however disturbed and inflated our budgets because of using coolers and air conditioners for a long time. It is the responsibility of the officials to make sure that they take steps and prevent such wastage of electricity, which is of a major concern for the public as well as the government." said Kumar V, a shop owner of the area.
