Malkajgiri: Telangana Kallu Geeta KarmikulaSangham (TKGKS) staged protest at Malkajgiri Crossroads on Thursday, seeking complete ban on liquor in the state. The representatives of the association said that toddy workers feel that the state government's recent announcement on the sale of 'Neera' through shops would be of no use without announcing a comprehensive policy on it.

Toddy workers in the state would get benefitted only when complete ban on liquor is imposed in the state, they opined. The government should make arrangements for sale of 'Neera' only through societies and a policy in this regard should be announced, they said. This would help thousands of people belonging to Goud community earn livelihood, they said.

Among those who participated in the protest were district president of toddy workers association Venkata Narsaiah Goud, Mallesh Goud, Dr Narsimha Goud, Swamy Goud, Sadanandam Goud, Krishna Goud, Venkatesh Goud, Lingam Goud, Basha Goud, members of various toddy societies and others.
