Hiring of inexperienced drivers proving fatal for passengers

Patancheru: Leaders of RTC Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Monday asserted that the Transport department officials were 'playing with the lives' of passengers by making inexperienced drivers lacking eligibility and ability to drive the corporation buses during the ongoing strike. The leaders were participating in the demonstration at the department in the industrial estate here by the BHEL RTC employees.

Co-convener of JAC B S Raju alleged that the department officials were behaving like "slaves of the government" after rendering the transport set-up ineffective. This, he said, was being condemned by Telangana civil society.

Raju alleged that the government remained unmoved by the death of by many striking employees and that there was a conspiracy to weaken the RTC set-up in the State during the 30 days of the strike. "This should be exposed," he said. He appealed to the government employees to extend support to the RTC employees for their 'just' demands.

Among the JAC leaders present were Krishna, Lakshmayya, Ambadas, Ramulu, Madhavi, Sunita, Anuradha, Sujata, Mahalakshmi, Suvarna, and leaders of supervisors' and garage employees associations.
