Jubilee Hills: Seeking immediate implementation of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) reservations, which was recently passed in Parliament, members of EBC student association led by its president Kotra Prabhakar Reddy met Telangana Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy here at his residence and submitted a memorandum requesting him to appeal the State government to pass the law in Assembly for the implementation of the reservations.

Prabhakar said that the Central government had already issued a notification for the implementation of the Act in the current academic year and delay in its implementation may result in loss of educational opportunity to many poor students.

He said that he appealed to the Speaker to take the issue to the notice of the State government and pass a bill in the ensuing assembly sessions to be held from July 18. Degree and medicine students have already lost opportunity to get selected as counselling has been completed, he said. Among those who met the Speaker include the secretary of the association Veera Reddy, Satish, Vijay and others.
