Meerpet: Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy participated in the World Disabled Day celebrations at Women Polytechnic College in Meerpet on Thursday. The Minister distributed 25 bikes to disabled persons.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the State government is taking necessary measures so that the disabled people get the benefits, 5 per cent has been reserved to them. There are 63,449 disabled persons in the Ranga Reddy district, and the State government is giving Rs 3,000 pension to the disabled persons and also increased the reservations in government jobs by 4 per cent. Every year 25 tricycles, 50 wheelchairs, 10 hearing kits, 30 walking sticks, 2 laptops, 55 bikes have been distributed to the disabled persons in the district Local leaders and officials were also present on the occasion.
