Sircilla weaver showcases exceptional skill through heritage-themed silk saree
Karimnagar: Renowned Sircilla handloom artist Veldi Hari Prasad has created an intricate silk saree depicting the history and traditions associated with Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari. The unique saree features the names of 102 sages, 102 gotras and 25 historical images woven into the fabric using traditional handloom techniques.
Prasad worked continuously for nearly 45 days to complete the seven-metre-long saree, which was specially commissioned by Ratnakumari and Koteswara Rao of Guntur. Made entirely with silk yarn and two grams of gold zari, the saree combines devotional themes, historical references and traditional weaving craftsmanship.
The detailed work required considerable precision as the names, gotras and historical scenes had to be incorporated into the design. Prasad is known for his innovative handloom creations. Earlier, he attracted attention by weaving a saree that could fit into a matchbox in just 170 minutes.
The latest creation highlights the artistic skill of Sircilla weavers while presenting the heritage of Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari in a distinctive and visually detailed form.
