BJP leaders ac crops in Jurala command area
Wanaparthy: Under the leadership of Pebbair town president Kranti Naidu, the BJP leaders inspected fields in the Jurala command areas of canals D19, D21, and D29 in Chelimilla, Patapalli, Ayyavaripalli, Gummadam, Gummadam thanda, Chinna Gummadam, Yaparla, Penchikalapadu and Janupalli on Sunday. “Paddy, groundnut, blackgram, cotton and chili crops are drying up,” they said after the inspection.
District party general secretary Srinivas Goud criticised the authorities for their alleged negligence, pointing out that water, which should be released from the Jurala project according to the rotational irrigation schedule, is not being provided. As a result, even crops of farmers located at the beginning of the canal network are withering.
He stated that the government and officials, who are responsible for ensuring that crops throughout the command area don’t dry up, have failed in their duty. Goud, vice-president Raghavender Goud, spokesperson Kancha Anjaneyulu, OBC Morcha State leader Ramakrishna, BJYM district leader Chintakayala Shiva, town general secretary Sarveshwar Goud and OBC Morcha town president Prasad Babu were present. The leaders warned the government to release water immediately; otherwise, the party would stage large-scale protests. They demanded compensation to farmers at the tail end of the command area.
