Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar has directed the engineering department officials to speed up pending works of Khammam Municipal Corporation.

He toured the city on a cycle on Tuesday and inspected various development works. He reviewed the progress of works such as road widening, road dividers construction, central lighting, Mission Bhagiratha and others in19, 20, 24, 25, 32 and 33rd municipal divisions.
The Minister spoke to the residents and assured them of solving drinking water problem in the city by this Sankranthi festival. Mission Bhagiratha works are going on at fast pace and pipeline works are at final stages.
Daily drinking water will be supplied soon to the residents of Khammam, Ajay Kumar said and added the municipal officials were told to ensure proper sanitation in the city. After an assurance given by IT Minister KT Rama Rao recently, Rs 30 crore under Special Development Fund (SDF) has been sanctioned by the State government and the process of submitting work proposals utilising the funds was underway.
Minister Ajay instructed the officials to remove electric transformers and poles obstructing traffic and steps should be taken not to cause any inconvenience to the residents due to the development works.
District Collector RV Karnan, Mayor G Papalal, Municipal Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi, Assistant Commissioner Mallishwari, R&B Executive Engineer Shyam Prasad and others accompanied the Minister during his city tour.
