Tirupati: Municipal Administration Commissioner and Director D Sampath Kumar has directed municipal officials and staff to execute their election duties with dedication, transparency, efficiency, and impartiality.
Chairing a review meeting at Tirupati on Tuesday, he evaluated preparations for the upcoming general elections to the Municipal Corporation.
Municipal Commissioner M Jayakrishna delivered a PowerPoint presentation detailing the arrangements, noting that the number of corporation wards has increased from 50 to 66, backed by 304 identified polling stations.
The corporation currently registers 2,90,492 voters, comprising 1,47,171 women, 1,43,292 men, and 29 voters from other categories.
Returning and Assistant Returning officers have been successfully appointed for all locations.
To secure election materials, a strong room has been arranged at SV Arts College, which Commissioner Sampath Kumar inspected during his visit.
Stressing that election management is a massive responsibility, Sampath Kumar called for seamless inter-departmental coordination and instructed staff to draft comprehensive polling station location maps.
Warning that negligence will face strict departmental action, he urged personnel to complete daily duties promptly and ensure a peaceful electoral exercise.
