WARANGAL: The Congress people’s government is committed to the welfare of farmers, said Parkal MLA Revuuri Prakash Reddy. He said cooperative societies should play a key role in developing the agriculture sector by providing farmers with timely services.
The MLA attended the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed nominated chairperson Janagam Vijaya Ramesh and the governing body members of the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) at Sangem mandal headquarters on Friday. Earlier, he took part in a large rally from the Sangem bus stand. He later congratulated the chairperson and the members on assuming office.
Revuuri said the government was strengthening cooperative societies to support farmers’ families and develop the agriculture sector. He urged the new governing body to remain accessible to farmers and work sincerely to resolve their problems. He also called on the members to work together to strengthen the society and improve its services to farmers.
The MLA said PACS had an important role in supplying farmers with fertilisers, seeds and other agricultural services on time. He encouraged farmers to adopt modern changes in agriculture, use new technologies and follow advanced cultivation methods.
He also said steps would be taken to establish Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) cluster-wise. The initiative would help farmers work collectively and make better use of opportunities in the agriculture sector.
