TRS has plans to develop Warangal: Errabelli Dayakar Rao
The State government was committed for the planned development of Warangal, Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao said.
Warangal: The State government was committed for the planned development of Warangal, Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao said. Inaugurating the Council Hall of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) here on Wednesday, he said that administration is trying to ensure all basic amenities in the city.
'Earlier, we never saw Corporations receiving funds from the State government, but there was a drastic change since the TRS assumed power,' the Minister said, referring to the allocation of Rs 300 crore for Warangal city every year. Without referring name, he said that some political parties are trying to claim credit for the development in Telangana and the TRS is least bothered about it, he said. "Telangana is paying Rs 2.72 lakh crore to the Centre in the name of various taxes but in return it's receiving 1.40 lakh crore," the Minister said. Errabelli claimed that the State was bearing 80 per cent of funds against the Centre share of 20 per cent to carry the works under Smart Cities Mission.
Initially efforts are on to supply drinking water to all the households in the city every day. Thereafter, we will try to supply drinking water 24X7, he said, admitting that there was some lag in work due to the spread of Covid-19 pandemic. Stating that the Centre was trying to blame the State, he said that no political party was seen when the floods hit Warangal.
Minister Errabelli said that there was no dearth of funds for the developmental works. The government has also given permission to fill the vacancies in the GWMC. He sought the legislators and corporators to work in tandem for the development of Warangal city.
Earlier, the Minister unveiled the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the GWMC administrative office building. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao said that the statue of BR Ambedkar would be unveiled on January 26. "Work on repairing the roads, drains and construction of retaining wall along the nalahs will be taken up by Rs 25 crore sanctioned by the State Government," Prakash Rao said.
Government Chief Whip D Vinay Bhaskar, MPs Pasunuri Dayakar, Banda Prakash, legislators Nannapuneni Narender, Thatikonda Rajaiah, Aroori Ramesh, Challa Dharma Reddy, Municipal Commissioner Pamela Satpathy were among others present. In another programme at Palakurthi, the Minister distributed Stree Nidhi loans worth around Rs 100 crore to 4,000 women of DWACRA groups. He said that the TRS government is committed for women empowerment.
