Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Commissionerate Special Operation Team (SOT) officials along with Rajendranagar police arrested six accused including two women for transporting and selling ganja on Wednesday.
The police seized 132 kg ganja, net cash of Rs 1.85 lakh, a car, a bike and other material from the possession of the accused. According to police, they arrested Shubham Singh (24), Satish Singh (30), G Naresh (29), D Naveen Kumar (19), Sunaina (18) and Rohini Devi at Aramghar X roads.
The accused Shubham Singh is a professional ganja supplier who hails from Dhoolpet and earlier was involved in seven cases of possession and sale of ganja. Another accused Satish is a ganja peddler involved in two cases. Surender Singh (absconding) took a house on rent at Jalpally about a year ago for storing and packing the ganja.
The accused Sunaina and Rohini stay in the rented house and pack the ganja into 12 gram, ½ kg and 1 kg bags each and the accused Shubham Singh and Satish Singh deliver the material to Surender Singh at Dhoolpet, who later sells it on wholesale to other accused for reselling to intended customers in and around Hyderabad.
During the illegal business Shubham Singh came in contact with one Venkat, a resident of Narkatpally who has good contacts with the ganja suppliers at Vishakapatnam and Gajuwaka. The accused are selling 1 kg pack for Rs 4,000 by buying for Rs 3,250 from Venkat. When the Venkat's people were handing over 40 kg ganja at Aramghar X roads, the SOT officials caught all of them red-handed and produced them before the Court after registering a case under sections 20 (b) (ii) (C) NDPS Act.
