Hyderabad: Seven persons arrested for smuggling ganja
The Special Operations Team (SOT) of LB Nagar along with Abdullapurmet police on Friday nabbed 7 persons for smuggling ganja and seized 81 kgs of ganja worth Rs 30 lakh from their possession. The accused persons were identified as Jagan, Kestavath, Sai, Vinod, Sudakhar, Jithendar and Anup Kumar
Hyderabad: The Special Operations Team (SOT) of LB Nagar along with Abdullapurmet police on Friday nabbed 7 persons for smuggling ganja and seized 81 kgs of ganja worth Rs 30 lakh from their possession. The accused persons were identified as Jagan, Kestavath, Sai, Vinod, Sudakhar, Jithendar and Anup Kumar.
According to police, the accused persons were transporting ganja from Dharakonda of Visakhapatnam agency to Rajasthan. Upon receiving credible information about the smuggling, the cops laid a trap and nabbed the accused persons.
Mahesh Bhagwat, Commissioner of police, Rachakonda noted, "The main accused Jagan was a kingpin of the entire smuggling of contraband. Earlier also he had committed such smuggling but went unnoticed and by taking advantage of his works, he lured more persons into the business. However his attempts were foiled when we received a tip-off about such deal."
All the persons arrested were booked under section 20 (II) (B) of NDPS Act and will be remanded to judicial custody.
