Dachepalli: An Endowment department Executive Officer (EO) Anitha (32), who has suspended from duties two days ago, has committed suicide by jumping into the Krishna river.

This incident came into light at Pondugula in Dachepalle mandal of Guntur district on Sunday. The locals noticed a woman's dead body floating in the water and informed the police. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot, taken out the body, identified the deceased as Anitha and shifted the body to Gurajala government hospital for Post-mortem.

According to the sources, Anitha's husband Ramesh lives in Guntur and works as a lawyer. Anitha works in Gurajala and resides with her parents at Srinagar in Dachepalle mandal. The couple has two children.

On Sunday morning, Anitha phoned her parents that she is starting from her husband's place. While travelling, she has also spoken to her husband several times. At 9 am, Anitha called her parents that she got down at Dachepalle bus stand, but didn't return home till noon. With this, the family members searched for her near the bus stand and railway station. In the meantime, they got the news that Anitha has committed suicide.

During Krishna Pushkaralu in 2016, Anitha has taken the responsibility of handling Daida and Satrasala ghats in Guntur district. Over the allegations of misappropriation of funds collected in the temple, a three-member committee found her fault and suspended from duties.

Apart from this, Anitha was also going through family issues with her husband. The police suspect that due to the pressure of personal and professional problems might have forced her to take the extreme step. A case has registered and investigated further.
