Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has confirmed the third case of the deadly novel Coronavirus on Monday. A sample of a student who had returned to the state from China is reported to have tested positive. The patient has been shifted to a quarantine facility and is being monitored.

The Kerala government has set up an isolation ward in the government Hospital at Thrissur to quarantine suspected patients of Coronavirus. Earlier, two other students had tested positive for the deadly virus. All three patients have been quarantined and are being monitored on a round-the-clock basis. So far, all the three cases of Coronavirus which have been reported in the country, have come from Kerala.

The Kerala State government's efforts in tackling the virus has been commended by health experts. The state government had set up isolation facilities and is reported to be working in a hands-on manner when it comes to handling the crisis.

Hundreds of students from Kerala, apart from nurses and other categories of individuals have returned from China and all of them were made to undergo screening by the state health ministry officials.

Meanwhile, the situation in China continued to be grim with more than 361 deaths and 17,000 people quarantined, according to latest media reports.
