Panaji: The monsoon session of the state legislative assembly could be held from the end of July or from the first week of August, Speaker of the Goa legislative assembly Rajesh Patnekar said on Thursday.

"Mostly it will be in the last week of July or the first week of August. It will be decided by June 15," Patnekar told reporters at the State Secretariat.

Patnekar said the state's borders should be sealed and added that checking at the road borders should be thorough in order to control the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the state.

"Borders which have already been sealed should remain so and checking should be thorough," Sawant said.

"The quantum is increasing, but the government is taking maximum care in Goa to ensure that the virus does not spread much. I am confident that the viral spread will be in control after some days, and Goa will be a safe place," Patnekar said.

On Wednesday Goa recorded 47 positive cases, the highest number of Covid-19 positive persons in a day, taking the state's tally of active cases to 69.
