New Delhi: After the removal of DCP Chinmay Bishwal of South Eastern District, Rajendra Prasad Meena has been replaced as DCP. This appointment has been done on the instructions of the Election Commission. Meena is a 2010 batch IPS and was currently posted as Additional DCP in North East. According to the information, he has been asked to take over immediately

Earlier, the Election Commission had removed DCP Chinmay Bishwal of the southeastern district with immediate effect on Sunday night. IPS Bishwal of 2008 batch has been asked to report to the Ministry of Home Affairs. In place of him, Additional DCP Kumar Dnyanesh of the district was given the charge. Shaheen Bagh incidents are believed to be behind this action of the Commission.

Rajasthan cadre IPS Bhanwar Lal Meena visited Shaheen Bagh on Sunday morning, and this action was taken on the basis of their report. The Election Commission has also issued directions to the Home Ministry and Deputy Commissioner of Police to send a panel of three suitable names to the Commission to be made regular DCPs of the district. This is the first time in the history of Delhi that a DCP has been removed by the Election Commission with immediate effect during the election.
