New Delhi: Amidst reports of a glitch on the Co-WIN App, the Union Health Ministry on Monday clarified that those who are eligible for the jab in Phase 2 of the Covid-19 vaccination drive that began on March 1 should register themselves on the Co-WIN2.0 portal, not App.

Registration opened at 9 am on Monday at www.cowin.gov.in. All citizens that are aged, or will attain the age of 60 or more as on January 1, 2022, can register themselves, besides all such citizens who are aged, or will attain the age of 45 to 59 years as on January 1, 2022, and have any of the 20 co-morbidities specified by the Health Ministry. Earlier in the day, many people took to social media to point out that the Co-WIN app is not sending the One-Time Password (OTP) to their mobile numbers, hence hindering the self-registration process.

However, the Health Ministry took to Twitter to clear the air. "There is NO #CoWIN App for beneficiary registration. The App on Play Store is for administrators only," tweeted the ministry.

It also said: "Registration and booking for appointment for #COVID19 Vaccination is to be done through #CoWIN Portal: http://cowin.gov.in."

Those who are eligible to get vaccination in this phase can register themselves at the Co-WIN 2.0 portal through their mobile number following a step-by-step process. After registration, the portal will present the list of government and private hospitals designated as Covid Vaccination Centres (CVC) with the date and time of the available schedules.
