Puri: The National Senior Men’s Hockey team visited Sri Jagannath temple in Puri on Saturday to offer prayers to Lord Jagannath and seek his blessings.

Accompanied by Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey, the 35-member Indian hockey team arrived in Puri on Saturday afternoon.

They were welcomed by the district sports officer and other officials from the district administration.

Escorted by the officials, the team entered the temple, where they paid homage to the presiding deities and then partook of ‘Mahaprasad’ before departing for Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

The Indian team is currently practising in a camp to prepare for a bilateral test series in Australia scheduled from March 29.
