Narendra Modi's 2014 campaign was a powerful one, and was built on a narrative of hope, aspiration, and change with vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' and a developmental plan such as 'Ek Bharat - Shreshtha Bharat'.

Modi's election campaign promises included creation of 10 million jobs, providing health care, eradication of poverty, simpler loans, job creation, women's security, women empowerment, etc.

Many of these promises such as - jobs, the black money issue, inflation, Lokpal, administrative issues still remain as promises. Some of the slogans used in the campaign were 'Ab Ki Baar Modi Sarkar', 'Ache Din Ayenge', 'Na khaunga aur na khane dunga".

The 2019 BJP campaign was completely different. With poor economic growth and high unemployment rate and the growing trust deficit in the voter, campaign could not be the same as in 2014.

It focused on national security and identity politics. He talked about how he can protect India from external and internal forces. The slogans this time were Mein Bhi Chowkidar, Modi Hai To Mumkin Hai, Phir Ek Baar Modi Sarkaar etc. He designated himself as a 'Chowkidar' (security guard) to show that he could guard the country and keep the Hindus safe and encouraged his followers to do the same through the tagline Main Bhi Chowkidar.

Modi along with several BJP leaders such as Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh removed the prefix 'Chowkidar' from his Twitter handle soon after winning the Lok Sabha election. During the political campaign most of the leaders and followers used 'Chowkidar' as a prefix.

Most Indians voted for the Modi Government as they consider Modi to be a leader who has the grit and determination to take difficult and bold decisions. The Modi government should focus on real issues of governance, and job creation and not disappoint the Indian citizens.
