Mumbai, Delhi most unsafe for elderly in India: NCRB Report

As per reports from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Mumbai is the most unsafe city in India for senior citizens. The NRCB released its data on Thursday, which claims that the number of violent crimes in Mumbai rose from 5,431 in 2017 to 6,169 in 2018. Among 19 metropolitan cities, Mumbai's share of violent crime in 2018 was the second-highest at 15.6 per cent.

This comes in after two gruesome murders of senior citizens in Mumbai.

Mumbai recorded the highest number of crimes against senior citizens, contributing to 24.7 per cent of all such crimes in Indian metropolitan cities in 2018 -- higher than Delhi's share of 18.2 per cent.

Corruption Cases:

Maharashtra recorded 22 per cent of the total corruption cases in the country in 2018. Odisha was next in line with 11.6 per cent, followed by Karnataka with 8.9 per cent.

Rape and Assault:

As many as 2,149 women in Maharashtra were victims of rape: 1,524 of them were aged between 18 to 30, 552 between 30 and 45, 62 between 45 and 60, and 11 were older than 60.
