Relatives of the accused have been issuing death threats to the rape victim's family.

Fresh news from Unnao Rape case states that the family of the survivor who is currently fighting for her life has been getting death threats from the accused and their families. The survivor's brother speaking to the media said that the relatives of the accused have been issuing death threats to his family after burning his sister alive while she was on her way for a court hearing in connection to the same case.

The victim's brother also stated that the family is now in a complete state of shock and trauma as they were not expecting the survivor to get attacked again. The family of the victim also alleged that the death threats have been issued in the past, and when they approached the police, the police did not provide any safety measures or security both for the victim and her family. The police have not provided any protection yet for the family members.

In her statement to the magistrate, the Unnao rape survivor alleged that criminals identified as Shivam and Shubham Trivedi had abducted and raped her in December 2018. She had filed a case against the two in March this year. Shubham, who was in jail in connection with the rape case, was released on bail on November 30, 2019.

Immediately after securing bail, Shubham started following and threatening her. The victim and her family visited the Bihar police station close to the Sindupur village in Unnao several times but the police turned a deaf ear to the complaints.

While the survivor was travelling to Rae Barreli for a hearing regarding the same case, the same group of men who had raped her stabbed thrashed and burnt her alive. The survivor is currently on a ventilator in Safdarjung Hospital and is undergoing treatment. Doctors have stated that the victim said she wants the criminals to be hanged and that she wants to survive. She is in a critical condition and is suffering 90% burns on her body.
