Congress MLA from Rae Bareli Aditi Singh hit out at her own party over the major controversy which erupted regarding buses being sent for migrant labourers by the Congress. Aditi Singh referred to smaller vehicles being included in the list of buses and asked as to what kind of a cruel joke this is.

Taking to the microblogging site Twitter, The Rai Bareli MLA questioned the need for such low-level politics in a major crisis. She pointed out that in a list of 1000 buses more than half of the registration numbers were fake, 297 were rickety old ones, 98 were auto-rickshaws and vehicles like ambulances.

Aditi Singh added that 68 of the vehicles were without any papers and wondered what kind of a cruel joke this was. She added that if there were buses why did the Congress not send them to Rajasthan, Punjab or Maharashtra?

Aditi Singh also wondered where the so-called buses provided by the Congress party were when students were stranded in Kota in Rajasthan last month. The Rai Bareli MLA remarked that the Rajasthan government did not even make the effort to leave them at the state border. Aditi Singh pointed out that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath came in for praise from the Rajasthan chief minister himself and that the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister took a lot of effort to bring the students back on buses.

The offer of buses to transport migrants, made by the Congress, has become a major controversy between the Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh and Congress leader and party general secretary, Priyanka Vadra. The Congress party had offered 1000 buses to ferry migrant labourers following which the Yogi government asked the Congress to submit a list of bus numbers, insurance papers details of drivers etc.

The UP government also asked the Congress to place the buses at the disposal of the district magistrates of Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar by 12 noon on Tuesday, following which the Congress sought time till 5 pm. The Congress said that it was ready with the buses and that the UP government officials were not letting them in.

The UP government booked a case against the chief of Congress in the state Ajay Kumar Lallu, while the Rajasthan government filed a counter FIR against the Chief Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh government and the District Magistrate of Agra.
