Vignan University Chancellor L Rathaiah has exhorted students to do extensive research on Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Allopathy to discover cost-effective drugs for various diseases associated with the fast changing modern lifestyle. Speaking at the valedictory of a two-day national seminar on ‘Emerging Frontiers of Materials Science’ on Friday, Rathaiah underlined the need for rediscovering the ancient Indian knowledge for the benefit of the society.

Prof D Basaveswara Rao, Dean of Sciences, Krishna University, said, “There is immense scope for research and development in the fields of medicine and material sciences in the country. Youth should explore the age old methodologies with the help of latest technology for the development of nation.”

Head of Department of Chemistry Vani Latha presented a report on the two-day seminar organised by the Department of Physics, in association with the DST Unit of Nanoscience and Thematic Unit of Excellence, IIT Madras. Later, research papers were presented on multiferroic and magnetic materials, molecular imaging, electrodynamics and other topics.

Prizes were given away to winners of the paper and poster presentation. College correspondent Sr Sleeva Thumma, principal Sr C Rekha Mudarta, physics department head Y Little Flower and lecturers of electronics and chemistry departments were present.
