The NDA government on Monday sanctioned Rs 1,500 crore as Special Financial Support to Andhra Pradesh for the construction of new capital. The amount included Rs 500 crore for AP's new Raj Bhavan, Secretariat, High Court and assembly earmarked in the Union budget last year.

The Union finance ministry said Rs 1,000 crore was allotted for support to essential amenities for the new capital of Andhra Pradesh as against the demand of the TDP government for over Rs one lakh crore for the construction of the new capital.

However, there is some cheer in the AP camp as the funds have been released in this financial year itself, which is ending on March 31 helping the state to tide over the financial crisis and enable payment of salaries in time. Party sources claimed the funds release was an outcome of the parleys by chief minister Chandrababu Naidu during his recent visit to Delhi ahead of his Singapore tour.
