When Mahindra launched the XYV500 automatic last year, they seemed to have missed out on two features which accompanied the SUV’s manual variant. The missing keyless entry and push button start features have now been added to the SUV. Just like its manual counterpart, the automatic version gets these features in its top-of-the-line W10 variant. The systems are exactly identical to the ones found on the manual.

The keyless entry technology used is a passive system, which relies on request buttons placed on the door handles. The normal flip out key has also been changed to a smart key which will house the transmitter that communicates with the SUV. The push button start takes up place below the centre console which reduces the available enclosed storage space.

Apart from these additional features, the package remains the same, with the SUV getting 6 airbags, hill-hold, a 7-inch touch infotainment system, ABS, EBD and an electric sunroof. The Mahindra XUV500 is powered by the 2.2-litre mHawk140 diesel engine which puts down 140 PS of power and 330 Nm of torque.

The gearbox options include a 6-Speed manual or automatic transmission. The SUV is available with 2WD and 4WD options. A 1.99-litre engine is offered in the Delhi NCR region due to the 2.0+ litre diesel ban. Prices for the Mahindra XUV500 start at Rs 12.12 lakhs, going up all the way to Rs. 18.17 lakhs for the top-end W10 variant (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). The SUV goes up against the Toyota Innova which has been the leading MPV in our market.
