“Student Social Responsibility (SSR) is essential to bring about a change in the attitudes of the people in the society. The curriculum must contain a subject that teach boys how to respect women. This one step of SSR will transform the entire society,” feels Trikala Chenna, director of Global Support organisation.

After completing her SSC in Tadepalligudem, she came to the city for her further education. Later she left for London and has been settled there for 11 years now. She comes to India thrice in a year to look after the affairs of Global Support, which was established in Bangalore in 2012. In London, she also trains in medication apart from working in different hotels.

Ever since her childhood, she saw many crimes committed against women. Such things have changed her personality and she made up her mind to do something against this menace. With parents stationed in Tadepalligudem, she operates from there during her visit to the country.

Her NGO works for women, elderly, physically challenged and children. During the last two years, she met Union Ministers and State Ministers and secured their support for inclusion of SSR in curriculum. Currently, she is working on a pilot project of SSR which concerns boys and girls. Trikala says that apart from SRR, she is keen on teaching ‘self-defense techniques for girls’. “I picked up two ambassadors Yashaswini Manchili and her sister Sumadhuri. They teach girls in kick-boxing and kungfu,” she says.

Inspired by their mother Prasantha Kumari, the sisters attribute their skills to coach R Sundaram.

The NGO founder, have plans to present to governments her work in the form of video clippings, some of them she shared with ‘The Hans India’. She says the SSR, if included in curriculum, motivates students.
