A cycle rally to mark Green Cyclothon was launched by Director General of Police N Sambasiva Rao at Prakasam Barrage here on Friday. Officials and staff of AP Special Protection Force, Border Security Force and Mehta Foundation jointly organised the programme. Slogans such as “Pedal bicycle, stay healthy and protect environment,” “Bicycle travel, zero expenditure and exercise for healthy body” were raised during the rally.

The bicycle rally, aimed at inspiring differently challenged persons, started at Seethammavari Padalu. About 100 officials, staff and people participated in the rally. Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said that it was for the first time to organise such rally in the new capital of the State. He patted physically challenged persons who participated in the rally.

The bicycle rally will last for five days until it reaches Tirupati via Ongole. City Joint Commissioner of Police BV Ramana Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kanthi Rana Tata, ADCP (Traffic) Nagaraju, ACP Srinivasa Rao and other took part in the rally.
